The 19-year-old winger's signing was confirmed following a season-long loan agreement with Sporting Lisbon, pending final approvals from both league authorities and international channels.

Abdul Fatawu, who has demonstrated his remarkable abilities both domestically and on the international stage, is set to embark on a new chapter at the King Power Stadium under the guidance of coach Enzo Maresca.

The young Ghanaian's prowess caught the attention of football enthusiasts with his promising performances, earning him the opportunity to contribute to The Foxes campaign in the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season.

In light of this momentous move, Fatawu expressed his elation: "I’m so happy. This is an amazing moment for me, I’m happy to be here. For me, from looking at Leicester and how I felt about the coach, here is the best place for me."

Fatawu's decision to join Leicester City was based on his conviction that the club's environment is conducive to his growth and development. He conveyed that the discussions with Manager Enzo Maresca revolved around plans to nurture his talent and enhance his footballing skills.

Hailing from Tamale, Fatawu commenced his senior career with Steadfast FC, rapidly establishing himself as a burgeoning talent within his nation.

His noteworthy performances earned him a loan stint at Ghana Premier League side Dreams FC in October 2021, where his excellence persisted. Subsequently, he embarked on an exciting journey by signing with Sporting Lisbon in April 2022.

Fatawu made his senior debut for Sporting Lisbon against Rio Ave in August 2022, marking a significant milestone in his career. Notably, he contributed to his team's UEFA Champions League campaign in the preceding season, highlighting his versatility and adaptability on the pitch.

His international achievements include aiding Ghana’s Under-20 team in securing victory at the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations in March 2021, where he earned the title of Player of the Tournament. Demonstrating his commitment to his nation, he has represented Ghana in 14 senior matches, even making an appearance at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year.
