Opoku wins Ghana’s Fastest Human
Shadrack Opoku of Ashanti Region at the weekend emerged champion at this year’s Ghana Fastest Human held at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
He overpowered the competition’s big guns such as Appiah Kubi of Ashanti Region and Desmond Aryee of the Greater Accra Region.

Ghana’s Fastest Human (GFH) is an intitative aimed at unearthing sprint talents for the national team and is powered by Surfline and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
This year’s edition attracted over 10,000 spectators who watched the event under floodlights and saw on display some brilliant talents from the various regions, particularly the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions.
In the women’s competition, Beatrice Gyaaman maintained her status as the fastest woman, beating Happy Abruyaa, while in the schools’ category, Nathaniel Boadu of T.I. Ahmadiyya Primary won the boys U-10, with Nurudeen Awudu, followed by Ernest Osei, with Emmanuela Oppong of T.I. Primary beating Ellen Opoku of St. Augustine’s.
