As part of the sponsorship, the Airlines will pay for the accommodation and provide meals for the six Ghanaian polo players embarking on the trip.
The competition, slated for May 9 to 11 at the Underberg Polo Club, will be the first time Ghana engages South Africa in an away encounter after losing at home to the South African team a few months ago.
Ghana’s trip was at the invitation of SAPA, with sponsorship from the South African Airways.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Michael Mahama, the chairman of the tournament committee, said the Ghanaian team would depart Accra on May 7 to enable them to acclimatise before the game.
He said the nation’s regular polo trainers and physically strong players with the requisite stamina would join Captain Dopoah-Dei to the tournament.
Team Captain, Kwakye Dopoah-Dei, noted that although it would be a tough competition, the trip would also be used to leverage investment opportunities for the country.
