Prempeh College excels at Robofest

Prempeh College represented Ghana and got to the semi-final at the just-ended World Robot Olympia (WRO) which was hosted in India.

About 54 countries around the globe were represented and Prempeh had got to represent Ghana at the Senior High School (SHS) level.

This is after Prempeh College in May 2016 first represented Ghana to win the ROBOFEST-Toyota Innovation Award in Michigan, United States (US).

The headmaster of Prempeh College, Samuel K. Fordjour in interview with the Daily Graphic said the achievement was welcoming news.

He said though the school has written its success story on its own mettle, it also made Ghana proud in the comity of nations at the global arena.

He congratulated the team for the participating in the WRO and reaching the semi-final, saying that though the school could not get to the final the feat was still a sterling performance.

He, however, commended former President, John Agyekum Kufuor; former Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor and former Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Mpiani; all Old Boys of the school for their immense contribution for the team.

He also commended both Methodist and Presbyterian churches for their immense support which had brought the school that far.

The Robotics coach and Information Technology (IT) Instructor at Prempeh College, Peter Agyeman, praised the team for its sense of purpose for reaching semis at the WRO.

He expressed gratitude to the entire administration of Prempeh College and most especially, Managing Director (MD) of Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority, Charles Asare; Founder of Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF), Dr Ashitey Trebi-Ollennu, and the Director & Co-Founder of GRAF, Dr Yaw Okraku-Yirenkyi.

He also thanked the Board Chairman of Prempeh College, Lawyer Franklin Kwabena Asamoah, the National President of the Old Boys Association, Senior K.F. Asante and Amanfuo Global for their assistance and encouragement.
