"I fully support this initiative and pledge my ongoing support for its continuation," he affirmed. "I hope it will remain a fixture for years to come."

"A football match to celebrate 30 years of parliamentary democracy will provide an opportunity to bring the youth closer to the workings of Parliament and instill in them the principles of democracy," he added.

President Akufo-Addo highlighted the success and resilience of the Fourth Republic, underscoring the need to celebrate its achievements.

Speaker Bagbin explained that the Democracy Cup match aims to engage youth in the anniversary celebrations, promote peace and unity ahead of the 2024 elections, and foster a democratic ethos in Ghana.

He urged the President to lead efforts in making democracy relevant to citizens and extended an invitation for him to attend the match.

Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are set to face off in the inaugural Democracy Cup match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, July 17th. The event will also feature a special curtain-raiser between former Black Stars players and Members of Parliament.
