Special Olympics sports equipment arrive
In their quest of sharpening the skills of athletes selected to participate in the Special Olympics Winter Games scheduled for Austria in March 2017, Special Olympics Ghana has taken delivery of a number of sports equipment that would be used to enhance the training of their athletes.

The equipment which arrived in Ghana a few days ago included plastic balls , plastic sticks, goal posts and goalkeepers accoutrements . A total of 12 athletes have been selected for the Special Olympics Winter Games.and they will soon begin camping to keep them in the top shape prior to the tournament.
The Special Olympics Winter Games which is a ten-day tournament open to all countries around the globe and fully participated by people with intellectual disabilities will see Ghana participating in the floor games which is similar to hockey.
In July last year, four athletes from Ghana participated in the athletics competition during the Special Olympics summer games held in the United States of America and they returned home with four silver medals.
The expectations are that athletes selected for the Special Olympics winter games will focus on their training to enable them return home with medals.
Briefing Daily Graphic about their preparations, a Director of Special Olympics Ghana, Mr. Emmanuel Kobina Baidoo said much seriousness would be attached to the training to ensure that the athletes hit top form before departing to Austria in March next year.
“ We do not only want to win a medal in the floorball games but also want to be discipline on and off the field and score as many goals as possible with the view of marketing the country well, so we are not leaving anything to chance” he assured.
