Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has called on all Ghanaians to unite behind the Black Queens as they begin their campaign at the 2026 TotalEnergies Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In a statement ahead of the tournament, Mr Simeon-Okraku urged supporters, the media, corporate partners and all stakeholders to offer the national women's team unwavering encouragement and belief as they seek continental glory and qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
"I urge all Ghanaians—our supporters, the media, corporate partners and every stakeholder to stand firmly behind the team with unwavering encouragement and belief. Let us celebrate their commitment, appreciate their sacrifices and inspire them throughout their journey," the statement read.
The GFA President mentioned that the Black Queens head into the tournament with renewed confidence after securing a bronze medal at the previous WAFCON, a performance he said has reignited hopes of restoring Ghana to the summit of women's football in Africa.
He expressed confidence that the team has the quality and determination to challenge for the continental title while pursuing a place at the next FIFA Women's World Cup.
"The Black Queens head into the tournament with renewed confidence and ambition following their impressive bronze-medal finish at the last edition."
"They now have an opportunity not only to challenge for continental honours but also to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup and return Ghana to the pinnacle of women's football."
Addressing the players directly, Mr Simeon-Okraku, who is also 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) assured them of the nation's full support and urged them to represent Ghana with courage, pride and determination.
"To the Black Queens, the entire nation is behind you. Play with courage, pride and determination, and go out there to make Ghana proud," he said.
The GFA President's message adds to the growing wave of support from government officials, football administrators and fans as the Black Queens embark on their quest for continental success in Morocco.
Ghana has been drawn in Group D alongside Cape Verde, Cameroon and Mali.
