Starlets win 4-nation tourney in Namibia

Ghana’s U-17 football team, the Black Starlets, beat German regional side, Westphalia 2-1 for the second consecutive time to win a four-nation tournament in Nambia last weekend.

The Starlets opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Sulley Ibrahim who connected excellently to establish their dominance in the tournament.

Unfortunately, the leading goal scorer of the tournament, David Cudjoe got injured and was replaced by Rashid Alhassan.

The team had to wait until the 64th minute when Rashid Alhassan dispossessed the German goalkeeper of the ball and shot into an empty net.

Prior to that, Ghana had wasted several chances, with Eric Ayiah and Emmanuel Toku being the main culprits.

In the 75th minute, Westphalia pulled one back to end the game 2-1.Ghana ended the tournament with four wins in four matches to emerge winners.
