Ghana’s rising table tennis star, Israel Aklie, has began a high-performance training tour in Sheffield, England, aimed at sharpening his skills and preparing him for greater international success.
The 2024 ITTF Africa Hopes Challenge Champion started the program under the guidance of Coach David Senyo Ahiaba, one of Ghana’s top table tennis coaches.
”The main purpose of the tour is to give Israel exposure so that he can improve upon his performance in order to enhance his table tennis career.”

The training, which runs from November 10 to 18, 2025 in Sheffield, will continue in other parts of the UK from November 19 to 21, 2025.
Coach Ahiaba also revealed that there are plans for Israel to join the ITTF Global Youth Training Camp in China from December 3 to 13, 2025, where he will train with some of the world’s best young players.

”He is expected to give off his best during the period and make the best out of this wonderful opportunity given to him by the kind courtesy of ITTF and the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), led by Mawuko Afadzinu,” Coach David Senyo Ahiaba said.
Israel is currently training with access to top-notch facilities and world-class coaches in the UK — an experience designed to boost his confidence, technique, and competitive mindset.
As the 2024 ITTF Africa Hopes Champion, Israel Aklie continues to attract attention as one of Ghana’s most promising young talents, supporters and stakeholders hope that government and sports agencies will help him rise through the ranks to become not only an Africa cadet champion but also Africa’s senior champion.
”We thank everyone who has contributed to his success as a player. But as Oliver Twist, we are hoping to get more philanthropists on board to make his dream of becoming a professional table tennis player come true," Coach David Senyo Ahiaba added.
