Veteran golfer Emos Koblah, affectionately known in Ghanaian golfing circles as “Landlord,” demonstrated remarkable consistency and tactical mastery to retain his Seniors title at the 2025 Goldfields Damang Open Tournament on Thursday.
Koblah emerged champion after three days of intense competition on a demanding Damang course, finishing with an impressive total score of 219. His performance included rounds of 73, 71 and 75 from Tuesday to Thursday, placing him comfortably ahead of 13 other contenders in the category.
The seasoned golfer’s steady play, marked by precise swings, disciplined chipping and intelligent navigation of the course’s hazards, proved decisive. The Damang course, known for its dense trees, twisting fairways, deceptive greens and unforgiving bunkers, once again tested even the most experienced players.
His closest challenger, E. K. Owusu, finished with a total of 227 after carding 77 on day one, an impressive 61 on day two, and 89 on day three. Anthony Gbenyo followed closely as second runner-up with a total of 228, scoring 74, 78 and 76 across the three days.
Speaking to the media after his victory, Koblah described the course as both tricky and demanding, noting that players needed to adjust constantly to its unpredictable conditions. “This Damang course is very tricky as the grass can stop the ball or make it go further than you wanted,” he said.
He acknowledged the growing competitiveness within the Seniors division, applauding the younger entrants who pushed him throughout the tournament. Koblah also expressed gratitude to Goldfields Damang for sustaining its partnership with the PGA and reviving the prestigious Open.
The veteran’s latest triumph reinforces his dominance on the Damang greens and cements his status as one of the most reliable performers in the seniors golfing circuit.
