Team Boomers emerged champions of the maiden Africa Basketball Festival (ABF) 3x3 Tournament held on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at the University of Ghana Basketball Court. The competition formed part of activities marking the official launch of the 2025 edition of the festival.
The high-energy contest brought together five teams: Team Boomers, Team OTE, Team Icons, Team Olenge and Team Iso 308. The evening featured fast-paced matchups, creative plays and enthusiastic support as spectators enjoyed the first official 3x3 event under the ABF banner.
Team Boomers distinguished themselves as the dominant side throughout the tournament, securing three wins and maintaining a comfortable lead over all other contenders. Their final fixture saw them deliver a commanding 19–7 victory over Team Icons, sealing their place as champions of the inaugural event.
The winning squad, made up of Kelvin Jones, David Jackson, Samuel Atiapah and Bamba Salia, impressed with their coordinated play and emphasis on teamwork. Their collective approach proved decisive against a competitive field that tested their skill and endurance across every match.
For their triumph, Team Boomers received a GH₵2,000 cash prize alongside products from Verna Mineral Water, Tonino Lamborghini Energy Drink and Minimie Atsomo. All participating teams also received gift packages and branded items from tournament sponsors.
Organisers described the success of the first ABF 3x3 Tournament as an important milestone that strengthens the festival’s mission to promote basketball culture, showcase rising talent and expand continental sports entertainment. They noted that the strong turnout and vibrant atmosphere have set a solid foundation for future editions of the competition.
