This is why Sergio Agüero is suing Barcelona

Former Argentine striker Sergio Agüero has initiated legal proceedings against Barcelona, claiming the club owes him €3 million ($3.2 million) following the early termination of his contract in 2021.

The ongoing legal dispute was disclosed in a financial report shared with Barcelona's members, outlining the unresolved payment issue.

Agüero, now 36, joined Barcelona on a two-year deal after departing Manchester City in 2021. However, his time at the club was cut short after just five appearances due to heart complications that surfaced during a LaLiga match against Alavés.

In December of that year, Agüero announced his retirement, reaching an agreement with Barcelona to terminate his contract. However, recent financial statements for the 2023-24 season reveal that Agüero has since taken legal action, seeking the unpaid sum he believes is owed as part of the contract settlement.

The case remains unresolved as the legal battle continues.
