Torgah wins Gold Fields PGA tourney
Master Vincent Torgah from the Tema Country Golf Club, last Saturday, beat 26 professional golfers to emerge winner of the Gold Fields Professional Golfers Association of Ghana tournament held at the Damang Golf Course in the Western Region.
For his efforts, Torgah, who finished the four-day course with a score of 272 points, was rewarded with a cash prize of GH¢10,000. In addition, the Executive Vice- President of Gold Fields West Africa, Mr Alfred Baku,donated GH¢1,000 to him for making a five under par in two days.

Stephen Klah from the Achimota Golf Club, who placed second with a score of 293, was rewarded with GH¢6,000 as prize money. Mr Brave Mensah, also from the Tema Country Golf Club, who finished third with a score of 294, carried away a prize money of GH¢4,000, with Emos Koblah from Achimota Golf Club and Kojo Barni from the Tarkwa Golf Club being rewarded with GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,500 respectively as cash prizes for placing fourth and fifth in the keenly competitive tournament.
Out of the 27 participants in the competition, the first 18 golfers were rewarded with cash prizes, totalling GH¢72,000, while the remaining nine were given consolation prizes.
President of the Professional Golfers Association of Ghana, Mr B.B.K. Ayivor, thanked Gold Fields Ghana Limited for sponsoring the inaugural PGA Ghana competition.
He also commended the golfers for turning out in their numbers to make the tournament much competitive, assuring that the company would continue to support golf and other sports programmes in the country.
