Twene: I'm fully ready for Gold Stars challenge
Newly signed Bibiani Gold Stars midfielder, Francis Twene, says he is ready to embrace the challenges ahead as the club prepares for a historic season, including its debut in the CAF Champions League.
The former Bechem United player expressed his excitement about joining the Bibiani-based side, revealing that he was inspired by the club’s vision and ambitions.
“When the team approached me and put forward the project of the club, I was very happy and I’m ready to deploy my skills to ensure that vision is realised,” Twene told the club's website.
“I am fully prepared for the season ahead and whatever is ahead of the club, particularly the CAF Champions League,” he added.
Twene, known for his composure under pressure and ability to dictate play from midfield, described himself as a defensive midfielder with strengths in ball distribution, long-range passing, and ball retention. He pledged to use those qualities to help the club succeed.
“I play without fear even under pressure, and I want the supporters to know I’m here to make them happy,” he said.
Bibiani Gold Stars are boosting their squad depth ahead of their continental campaign and domestic league title defence. In addition to Twene, the club has also secured the signatures of Bernard Kesse from Accra Lions, Samuel Atta Kumi, Sampson Eduku, and Michael Nkoah.
Twene urged the club’s passionate supporters to rally behind the team, especially at home games.
“I want to encourage the fans always to fill Dun’s Park during our matches, especially the league games, because their presence motivates us to give our best,” he said.
Reflecting on his time at Bechem United, Twene recalled the electrifying atmosphere at Dun’s Park whenever they played against Gold Stars.
“Whenever we travelled to Dun’s Park to play, the support from the fans was massive. It inspired players to fight for the badge. I urge them to continue with the same support in the coming season,” he added.
