UMB maintains top spot as Zenith hammers FirstBank 4-1 in Bankers Football League Week 7

The Bankers Football League witnessed a significant shake-up in its standings following the results of Week 7 matches played on August 30, 2025, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Park, with UMB holding firm at the summit.

The weekend's action saw a mix of tight contests and decisive wins. The most emphatic result came from the fixture between Zenith Bank and FirstBank, where Zenith secured a commanding 4-1 victory. This large margin of victory has significantly boosted their goal difference, a key factor in the tightly-contested league table.

In other matches, the clash between Stanbic Bank and Societe Generale was a close affair, with Stanbic edging it 1-0. 

Another game saw GCB Bank defeat OmniBSIC by three goals to nil. The match between Ecobank and UBA ended in a stalemate, with neither side able to break the deadlock in a 0-0 draw. Meanwhile, CAL Bank drew 1-1  with Bank of Ghana.

The results have solidified UMB's position at the top of the league table. After 8 games played, they lead with 19 points and a formidable goal difference of +12. At the other end of the spectrum, the struggle continues for UBA and First Bank, who prop up the league with 2 and 1 point respectively, both having conceded far more goals than they have scored.

The league table remains highly competitive in the middle, with only a few points separating several teams, setting the stage for a compelling second half of the season.
