In a press conference held in anticipation of England's crucial Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine on Saturday, September 9, Nketiah expressed his reasons behind this pivotal choice.

This press conference marked Nketiah's maiden interaction with the media as an England international, following his much-anticipated call-up to the senior squad. Although the 24-year-old possesses Ghanaian heritage through his parents, he opted to don the Three Lions jersey, citing what he deems a natural progression in his burgeoning career.

“Once the (England) offer was on the table, it was really hard to turn down. It’s something which I felt was obviously a natural progression for myself at this stage and I felt now is a good time to kind of make that step so obviously am really happy to be here and proud to be here. Hopefully I can help the team this weekend and go on and get some caps.”

Nketiah, at the age of 24, has already notched up two goals in five appearances for Arsenal across various competitions this season.
