Tony Pulis, the Albion head coach, has identified Schlupp as the solution in his search for a left-back and made a firm bid for the Ghana international.

Leicester are already reeling after the £30million sale of N'Golo Kante to Chelsea while assistant manager Steve Walsh is considering an offer to become Everton's director of football.

West Brom have now made a move for Schlupp and hope to make the ‎23-year-old their second signing of the summer, after the £5million capture of QPR winger Matt Phillips.

Pulis is determined to sign a left-sided defender ahead of the new season and had considered Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor, but Schlupp appeals due to his Premier League experience.

Schlupp impressed towards the end of Leicester's historic title triumph but ‎only signed a new contract in June last year.

And with Leicester facing the possible sale of England under-21 international Ben Chilwell to Liverpool, the champions will be loathe to lose another of their talented young players.

Pulis, however, is determined to step up his bid to make new signings after a frustrating summer.

He said: ‎" The biggest thing is trying to improve the football club and stabilise what we’re trying to achieve.

“To do that you have to get the finances and backing to improve. That’s what we’ll be trying to do.

“There’s a lot more money coming into the Premier League next year so that means there’ll be a lot more competition.”
