West Ham United has reportedly achieved a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of securing the services of versatile Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, as disclosed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

According to Romano, the Hammers have successfully reached a verbal agreement with Ajax, the Eredivisie powerhouse, for a deal valued at €45 million along with additional performance-based incentives.

Mohammed Kudus is expected to undergo a thorough medical examination before finalizing a five-year contract with West Ham. This contractual arrangement will bind him to the London Stadium outfit until the summer of 2028.

Reports indicate that the technical director of West Ham, Tim Steiden, has actively advocated for the acquisition of the Ghanaian forward. The move aligns with the ambitions of West Ham manager David Moyes, who is keen on strengthening the club's attacking options.

This transfer marks a substantial investment for West Ham and is poised to rank among the priciest deals in the club's recent history. Notably, Ajax has included a sell-on clause in Kudus' transfer, potentially entitling them to a significant share of any future transfer fee should the player depart from West Ham.

This move signifies the second instance of transfer collaboration between Ajax and West Ham this summer. The Hammers had earlier secured the signing of Edson Alvarez from the Dutch club.

Despite commencing their summer recruitment drive relatively late in the transfer window, the addition of Kudus becomes the fourth to join Moyes's squad. This summer spending elevates the club's expenditure beyond the £120 million mark.

West Ham's strategic acquisitions are already showing promise, exemplified by James Ward-Prowse's two assists in their recent 3-1 triumph against Chelsea.

With their new acquisitions, the Hammers aim to address the previous season's challenges, where they endured a disappointing domestic campaign, finishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

As the transfer window approaches its closure in a week, West Ham could potentially augment their squad with one or two more signings. Moyes continues to express interest in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. The prospect of raising funds for further recruitment could entice Manchester United into considering the sale of the Scotsman to West Ham.
