Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards launched
It is open to all journalist across the various media in Africa and the country in particular.
The Corporate Relations Manager of GGBL, Madam Preba Greenstreet, officially launched the 2013 edition of the awards at a short ceremony in Accra Tuesday.
She encouraged journalists in the country to endeavour to enter their stories, adding that although DABRA had existed for a decade now, not many people from the country have won it.
Arch investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas of the New Crusading Guide and Felix Dela Klutse, formerly of Daily Guide but now with the Economic Tribune, are the only Ghanaian journalists to have won the award in 2012 and 2010 respectively, leaving the rest to other African natives.
Madam Greestreet, however, said local journalists had what it takes to win the award if only they submitted their stories for screening.
“We know that there are more award-winning stories being written and published in Ghana and I, therefore, encourage all journalists to submit their entries for consideration,” she said.
The awards are in ten categories which include Best Information, Communication and Technology Feature, Best Finance Feature, Best Infrastructure/Environment Feature and Best Tourism Feature.
The rest are Best Business News Feature, Best Business Feature, Best Newcomer and Best Media of the year which goes to the media house that has distinguished itself in the year.
Stories and features for the awards must have been published or broadcast between March 24, 2012 to March 15, 2013 to be qualified for entry, according to the entry requirements.
Such stories must also satisfy a range of criteria which include proof of excellent analysis and clarity of the business climate, investigative research that has 'gone the extra mile', a clear and balanced presentation of the issue/s involved and a good journalistic flair – a style that is engaging, thought-provoking and accessible to its audience.
