DPO, Mastercard launch online payment platform
A leading online and digital payment provider in Africa, DPO Group, has launched its services in the country at a ceremony in Accra.
In partnership with Mastercard, the DPO Group payment solution is expected to revolutionise the digital payment industry in the country by allowing consumers to buy products and services in any currency in about 20 countries DPO operates in Africa.
The Head of Business Development and Country Manager of DPO Ghana, Mr Manasseh Narh, said the advantage for businesses in the country was that they could sell their products and services to any consumer in any of the 20 African countries and still receive payments in cedis.
He said the new innovation would greatly enhance the operations of business, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and help them take advantage of the African Intercontinental Free Trade Area (AfCTA)
“This payment system can support a business and expose its products and services beyond Ghana to other African countries which uses multiple currencies. This is what the AfCTA is about,” he said.
Growth
The Country Manager of Mastercard, Mr Bossman Akuffo Kwapong, said the country’s digital payment solution and e-commerce had grown exponentially.
Such growth, he said, provided new opportunities and advantages for companies to grow and expand.
“Mastercard wants to enable one billion customers to use digital payments by 2025.
Digital payment solutions do not only help the growth of businesses but also build financial inclusion,’ he said.
He described the collaboration between DPO and Mastercard as a step in the right direction that would help bring world class solutions in the digital payments area and bring relief to customers,” he added.
