Dr Ernest Addison gets another 4-year tenure as BoG Governor

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Ernest Addison has been given another four-year tenure in office, pending the approval of the yet-to-be constituted Council of State, Graphic Online has gathered.

Dr Addison's current tenure in office will end at the end of March 2021.

However, Graphic Online has gathered that the presidency has given the green light for him to continue as Governor of the BoG for the next four years pending the approval of the yet-to-be constituted Council of State from April 1, 2021.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo first appointed Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison as Governor of the Bank of Ghana on April 1, 2017.

He took over from Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku who resigned from the position.

His appointment was made in accordance with Article 183 (4) (a) of the Constitution subject to consultation with the Council of State.

Dr Ernest Addison was, until his appointment the Lead Regional Economist of the African Development Bank, at its Southern African Resource Centre.

From 2003 to 2011, he served as the Director of Research at the Bank of Ghana; and was the Chief Economist of the West African Monetary Institute, from 2001 to 2002.

Dr Addison, an Economics graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon, holds an M.Phil in Economics and Politics from the University of Cambridge, England, and Ph.D in Economics from McGill University, Canada.
