Ghana-Russia Center, UAE Embassy strengthen business ties

THE Ghana-Russia Center for Commerce and Relations and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy have pledged their commitment to strengthen ties to explore business opportunities.

The move exemplifies the increasing importance of international cooperation in addressing challenges in a rapidly changing global landscape.

As both nations work towards their aspirations, the emphasis on youth inclusion remains a critical pillar of their collective vision for future growth and prosperity.

In a release issued by the center in Accra yesterday, it said “the Ghana-Russia Center for Commerce and Relations recently sent a delegation to the United Arab Emirates embassy, where they were welcomed by Amer Jamil Al Alawi, the UAE Head of Mission to Ghana.”

The delegation led by the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), John Aggrey, included the Head of Communications at the Center, Michael Acquah; Head of Business Development and Innovations, Ziona Ayorkor Biney and Head of International Projects, Kow Korankye Taylor.

It said the primary purpose of the delegation involved exploring business opportunities that could enhance socio - economic collaboration between the center and UAE.  

They also aimed to discuss ways to engage youth in these initiatives.

“Ghana-Russia Center plays a crucial role in fostering youth engagements and diplomatic relations between nations to provide a platform for dialogue, understanding, and cooperation in various sectors,” it added.

The UAE Head of The Mission to Ghana, Amer Jamil Al Alawi, said the presence of young professionals in the delegation underscored the future focus on engaging the youth in economic and diplomatic activities that can contribute to national prosperity and youth advocates who were committed to leveraging partnerships for sustainable development.  

He said “the visit is considered significant not only for the potential economic benefits but also for strengthening ties between the UAE as a new member to BRICS+ nations and non-state actors, thereby enhancing intercontinental growth and collaborations.”

Collective resources

The head of delegation, John Aggrey, emphasised the importance of harnessing collective resources and expertise to foster development in Ghana, particularly with a focus on youth engagement.

“Our primary goal for this visit is to engage the UAE stakeholders through the embassy on dialogues of cooperation centered on identifying specific projects that could facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development and exchanges for the younger generation,” he said.

According to the release, the historical context of diplomatic ties between the UAE and Ghana dates back several years, characterised by mutual respect and shared interests.

It said recent developments have seen a significant strengthening of bilateral cooperation through various trade agreements and cultural exchange programmes.

“The relationship is particularly focused on economic collaboration, which has opened avenues for joint ventures and investments, particularly in the sectors where both nations have inherent strengths,” it said.

The release said looking ahead, there is optimism about the potential areas for further collaboration between the UAE and Ghana adding that “sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, and technology are seen as ripe for investment and partnership.

Both countries have expressed an interest in developing these fields, particularly in technology transfer and education, to benefit their youth.”
