Ghanaian horologist Patrick Amofah champions cultural heritage in craftsmanship
Ghanaian horologist Patrick Amofah is advocating for craftsmen to incorporate cultural symbols into their artistry.
According to him, this serves as a physical representation of a community's history, traditions, and values, while fostering a sense of identity and pride among individuals and communities.
"It allows people to connect with their roots and celebrate their uniqueness in a globalized world," he stated.
As an advocate, Mr. Amofah is redefining craftsmanship by embedding cultural symbols into his creations. His Warrior King Watches brand has become a beacon of how African heritage can be preserved and celebrated through innovative artistry.
This was evident during the 60th birthday celebration of the Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Dr. Samuel Amoh Tobin. On this occasion, Dr. Tobin’s younger brother, Dr. Peter Ebo Tobin, presented him with a custom-made, 18-karat gold Warrior King timepiece.
The timepiece aligns him with His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, who was the first recipient of the creation.
Speaking about the timepiece, Mr. Amofah emphasised the precision and passion behind its creation. “This timepiece was crafted with the utmost reverence. It stands as a symbol of Dr. Tobin’s extraordinary journey and his commitment to touching lives,” he said.
“Designed with intricate patterns and premium materials, the timepiece symbolises strength, resilience, and dedication. It is a reflection of Dr. Tobin’s personal and professional journey,” he added.
