For Mr Busia, he was recognised for spearheading the implementation of innovative policies and interventions which helped to lift the DVLA from a public service entity that was choked with inefficiencies and corruption tag, to an efficient and prudent institution.

GOIL dedication

Mr Osei-Prempeh dedicated the award to the entire team at GOIL whose efforts and dedication to duty have contributed to the success of the company.

He said apart from the quality products and efficient services, the integration of its electronic card payment with that of the national payment platform made it possible and convenient for GH-link electronic cardholders to access their products at any of their 400 service stations throughout the country.

DVLA digitisation

Since Mr Busia’s appointment as the CEO, the DVLA has digitised the paper-based vehicle records into a secure smart-card; introduced an electronic vehicle registration system and introduced cutting edge security systems into vehicle roadworthy certification processes.

Currently, a process is ongoing to translate the theory driver test system, which was in the English language, into six local languages — Ga, Ewe, Twi, Hausa, Dagbani and Nzema.

Under Mr Busia’s administration, a two-year strategic business plan and vision was developed by the management, with the ultimate goal of creating a new DVLA which is “autonomous, efficient and sustainable” while doubling its revenue with the visionary framework system integration, enforcement entrenchment and data analytics.
