The enhanced channel, which is christened Bank *737#, has more features that cater for most banking needs of existing and potential customers without visiting the bank’s branches.

Customers can dial a short code *737# and purchase mobile airtime top-ups for themselves (and for family and friends), check account balances; transfer funds between their accounts and change PIN.

The enhanced service also enables customers to pay utility bills such as Surfline, DStv, electricity, water as well as postpaid bills.

Other functions on the reloaded channel include making enquiries such as branch and ATM locations; making transfers to any GTBank account and transfers onto pre-paid cards and mobile money wallets.

“The most interesting feature on the upgraded service is that non-customers of GTBank who wish to open an account with the bank can initiate the account opening process by simply dialing *737# on their phones wherever they might be,” the bank said in a statement.

Bank*737# comes as the bank officially opened its off-site data processing centre, situated off the Spintex Road in Accra.

Data processing centre

The off-site data processing centre, which also acts as the GT Bank’s information technology (IT) infrastructure, is in line with the bank’s commitment to use technology to drive change in the financial services industry and measure up to international best practice.

The bank has a primary data centre at its head office in Accra.

Thus, in the case of any eventuality to the main system or backup system at the head office, the bank would continue to function as normal using its third level backup system at the off-site data processing centre.

GTBank MasterCard corporate cards

Prior to the launch of Bank *737#, the bank officially introduced its MasterCard corporate cards to the market.

MasterCard corporate cards, unlike personal cards, are issued to corporate organisations (as purchasing card) and staff (as executive card) and have been designed to allow companies and their authorised staff to make day-to-day purchases and procurements through a secure and electronic payment tool.

The corporate executive cards have also been designed to simplify the management of travelling expenses of top executives and designated staff.

With worldwide acceptance of over 35 million locations, the GTBank corporate executive cards also grant unlimited airport lounge access and a range of insurance benefits, including travel insurance and loyalty rewards.

During the official opening and launching ceremony, the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, Mr Lekan Sanusi, said on the occasion of the bank’s 10th anniversary, it was delighted to provide further convenience and assurance to its customers
