QM: Tell me about your TBSC journey with UCC

I joined the TBSC team at UCC in 2020/2021 to prepare for the 2021 edition. I was feeling very nervous yet excited about the opportunity ahead.

There were several preparation and selection tests organized by the coaches to finalize the team.

Fortunately, I made the final list. I was the only gentleman among the ladies, which was quite amusing. It was a great journey from there. We went to the competition and gave our best performance. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

QM: How was the feeling like on winning the competition in 2021?

It was a great feeling. I was excited and felt a sense of achievement.

QM: What were some of the challenges faced, lessons learnt, and key takeaways from the TBSC platform

The main challenge we faced during our preparation was the changes in the program dates. This affected the team because it was not factored into our budgeting.

Additionally, in terms of contests, we initially underestimated the strength of some opponents, which almost cost us our first contest. After that, we prepared aggressively for all other schools (the competition intensified).

QM: What were some of the key takeaways from the TBSC platform?

I used to be shy and disliked public speaking. My experience on the hot seat gave me valuable exposure. Being in front of people and knowing that others were watching me helped me learn to think on the spot and come up with solutions quickly.

QM: What do you currently do and how has the TBSC shaped you afterward (Impact of TBSC, if any)?

I am currently an Audit Associate with KPMG.

QM: What advise do you have for schools and students who may want to participate in the TBSC?

TBSC is a great platform to test yourself. It challenges what you know and helps you build a network.

QM: Any final comments for Version 6.0 schools?

I think schools should encourage their students to participate. It raises awareness for the schools and provides networking opportunities for the lecturers as well.

Overall, TBSC is a great platform to be part of, and I am excited to have been part of this journey
