Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce optimistic about economic turnaround

The Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC), has expressed confidence in the government's commitment to improve the business and investment environments.

It said the government's efforts to streamline bureaucratic processes, enhance infrastructure development, and incentives are expected to restore economic stability within the business sector.

Speaking at a General Assembly meeting to discuss the current state of the economy and the way forward, President of the SGCC, Mr. Joaquin Roura Lama, said Ghana had experienced some significant economic challenges over the last two years.

He said the challenges which include currency volatility, rising inflation, and a tightening of financial resources had negatively impacted businesses and investments in the process.

He was however optimistic that structural reforms that have been put in place by the government would turn things around and provide a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.

The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana Mr. Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo emphasized the importance of strengthening economic ties between Spain and Ghana, highlighting the potential for increased trade and investment.

He said With the government's renewed commitment to economic stability and growth, the Chamber is optimistic about the future of Ghana's economy and the opportunities for Spanish investment and trade.

The meeting which was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra yesterday, brought together key stakeholders, the CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, Mr. Simon Madjie, as the Chamber, sought to promote economic cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

The occasion was also used to outdoor newly appointed Board Member for the SGCC. The 12-Member Board, which is led by Mr. Joaquin Roura Lama as President; Mr. Miguel Sanchez-Burgues, Director, Wagcol Limited as First Vice President; Mr. Nadim Ghanem, CEO, Miniplast Ltd, as Second Vice President; and Mrs Angela Fabre, Director, Dwell Relocation Gh. Ltd as Treasurer has a three year mandate to steer the affairs of the Chamber.

The rest are Mr. Celestino Alvarez, Director, Logiplus; Mr. Bethel Yeboah, Corporate Affairs Director, Coca Cola Bottling Company; Mr. Manuel Domecq, Business & Strategy Analyst, GB Foods; Mr. Latif Abubakar, Playwrite & CEO, Globe Productions Ltd; Mr. Bobby Banson, Lead Consultant, Robert Smith Law Group; Mr. Yaw Okyere Boamah, Executive Director - UK Business Development, African Bagg Ltd; Mr. Nuamah Appiah, CEO, Menat Green; and Mr. Enrique Gorrochategui, Administration & Control Director, Maxam.
