Tech in Ghana 2025 to take place in Kumasi

The Founder of Tech in Ghana, Akosua Annobil has announced that the next edition of the widely recognized conference will take place in Kumasi, one of the most vibrant cities in Ghana.

Dubbed: "the Royal Edition,” the event will mark a major milestone in the nation’s technology ecosystem, promising to showcase the vibrant and growing tech scenes in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
 
Scheduled for next year, 2025, the conference aims to spotlight Kumasi as a key player in Ghana’s technological innovation and digital transformation efforts as well as highlight the region’s potential in technology, culture, and development.
 
The event will feature innovative projects within Kumasi and beyond, including mining, manufacturing, and city infrastructure projects being developed under the Ashanti Investment Trust (AIT).
 
These efforts, supported by traditional authorities and local stakeholders, aim to highlight Kumasi’s role in driving Ghana’s tech agenda.
 
Participants can expect to explore a range of initiatives, including advancements in digital infrastructure, smart housing, and the integration of eco-friendly solutions.
 
Speaking at the climax of the 2024 Tech in Ghana conference hosted at the Movenpick Ambassadorial Hotel in Accra, Special Advisor on the Ashanti Investment Trust Initiative, Evans Amoah-Nyamekye described Kumasi as a rising hub for innovation and business.
 
He emphasized that the decision to host the conference outside Accra underlines the importance of integrating all parts of Ghana into the national tech conversation.
 
“Why not Kumasi? Let’s embrace this opportunity and make every part of Ghana great,” he noted.
 
According to him, the 45,000-acre “new city” project will be among the highlights, showcasing Kumasi as a hub for innovation and development.
 
“Ashanti is ready to showcase its talent and vibrancy to the world. Kumasi is not just rising, it has already risen. This conference will give everyone a chance to experience its technological advancements, rich culture, and strategic developments.” Amoah-Nyamekye said.
 
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of hapaSpace, a Kumasi-based tech hub, Gideon Brefo, expressed excitement about the opportunities the conference would bring to Kumasi.
 
He noted that the event will provide a platform for young entrepreneurs, innovators, and businesses to showcase their projects and form valuable partnerships.
 
“This is going to be a big moment for Kumasi. It’s not just about technology, it’s about creating opportunities, celebrating local talent, and showing the world that Kumasi is a key part of Ghana’s tech ecosystem,” he said.

Govt initiative

The Secretary at the National Communications Authority (NCA), Nana Adjoa Adobea Khartey, highlighted the government’s role in bridging the digital divide.
 
She shared updates on initiatives such as the Girls in ICT project, which has trained over 150,000 young women in digital skills.
 
“The conference will shine a light on how technology is transforming lives across Ghana, especially in rural areas. From digital address systems to satellite internet and mobile money, we are creating a more inclusive tech environment.” she pointed out.
 
One of the standout innovations to be featured is the rise of container housing. Chief Executive, (CEO) of Uncontained Spaces, Emelia Djani explained how her company uses eco-friendly materials and smart technology to create sustainable, affordable housing options.
 
“People are rethinking housing and living. Our container homes are cost-effective, durable, and eco-friendly. They are perfect for young graduates, families, and even businesses in remote areas,” she said.

Nurturing innovation

The Chief Executive(CEO) of Incas Diagnostics,  Dr. Laud Anthony Basing, praised Kumasi’s vibrant tech landscape, citing the achievements of local startups and the role of tech hubs in nurturing innovation.
 
“There’s so much happening here. Tech in Ghana 2025 will give students, startups, and businesses a chance to showcase their work, find partners, and scale their ideas.” Dr Basing said.
 
The Royal Edition of Tech in Ghana is expected to attract participants across Ghana and the diaspora. Organizers are confident the event will put Kumasi in the spotlight and inspire other regions to contribute to the country’s tech growth.
 
The conference promises to be a celebration of innovation, culture, and progress, as Kumasi prepares to host the tech world in 2025.
