Thywill Business to compete with foreign counterparts

A local construction company, Thywill Business Investments and Consultancy Services, intends to break away from all forms of docility and challenge foreign counterparts in the construction and business industry.

The days when foreign contractors were offered juicy contracts because local ones were allegedly blamed for doing shoddy work, disappointing clients and never delivering projects on time are over.

This time round the company has ignored these criticisms and is poised to perform to global standards with newly trained motivated resourceful staff to deliver corporate goals on competitive basis.

The Chief Executive of the company, Mr Christopher Foe, made the declaration at the 10th anniversary of the firm during which some hardworking workers were rewarded at Ho.

According to him, the company, as an emerging enterprise, had positioned itself to acquire state-of-the-art equipment to enable it to compete with any kind of company in the world, adding that it was migrating from conventional method of construction to a modernised system.

Discrimination against local contractors

Mr Foe, however, said discrimination against local contractors in respect of late payment for work done and undue exploitation of local artisans against the tenets of the labour laws of the state were a bane to the growth of local contractors.

He said local contractors were always given a raw deal because different rates were offered to foreign contractors as against local ones and that there also was discrimination in settling of claims and added that even if there was a court action, it never resolved issues but rather resulted in blacklisting of the local contractors.

Mr Foe said foreign contractors were allowed to operate in a relative free market in which they could repatriate their fortunes from the country to the detriment of the economy.

This unfair treatment had led to a sad situation in which local companies were forced to lay off their staff, he noted.
