Vivo energy launches visa-enabled fuel card

Vivo Energy Ghana Limited, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded products, has launched its Ezypass Fuel Card onto the Ghanaian market.

The card, which also doubles as a Visa prepaid card, can be used to purchase fuel at selected Shell stations and shops.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, the Managing Director of Vivo Ghana, Mr Ebenezer Faulkner, said the introduction of the card reinforced the company’s position as an innovator in the downstream fuel industry.

The product, he said, would change the way customers purchased their fuel, lubricants and shop items at Shell service stations nationwide.

“This will give you absolute control over your fuel expenses with optimum efficiency, whilst offering you an opportunity to purchase Shell fuels, lubricants and shop items at the best prices. This new product also has the added benefit of being used at the shopping malls outside Shell stations,” he said.

Ezypass will eventually be rolled out to all Shell stations across the country.

The new card

The Ezypass Fuel Card, he said, had not come to replace the current Shell card for fleets but would serve as an additional offer for individuals, private and commercial motorists who want more convenient payment options in and outside Shell stations.

Ezypass Card is designed with in-built security features to ensure 100 per cent cash security.

“Customers can now have their peace of mind with their cards fully loaded at no transaction cost at our forecourts. Customers do not need to use fuel coupons anymore since you can just give an Ezypass card as a gift by loading cash on it instantly at Shell stations. It can also be acquired and reloaded instantly at all Zenith Bank branches across the country,” he said.

Benefits

The Marketing Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr Jerry Boachie Danquah, said “Ezypass is the first visa-enabled fuel card in the country. It can be used at all ATMs and Point of Sale terminals that accept Visa.”

Cutting down emissions

The Minister of Transport, Mr Fifi Kwetey, said the aim of the transport sector was to cut down emissions by encouraging the use of low-emitting vehicles, promoting the use of higher occupancy buses such as the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT)  system and other sustainable alternatives.
