Thumbs up to Black Star festival
There is no doubt that the organisers of the Black Star International Film Festival (BSIFF) ought to be commended for such an initiative.
What any country stands to gain for hosting a film festival is enormous and Ghana as the host nation has no doubt benefitted immensely from the festival.

The coming into the country of over 40 filmmakers in addition to other industry players boosts our tourism in a lot of ways while our local filmmakers get to share ideas and learn from their foreign counterparts.
Panel discussions on various topics formed a vital part of the festival and this is where our filmmakers get to deliberate on industry issues as well as tap into the ideas of their colleagues from across the world.
As part of this year’s festival, a ‘Talent Market’ was introduced where participants came together to discuss ways of improving the film industry as well as creating avenues for distribution of films.
As has been reported by Showbiz, it was a very interactive session that gave participants the opportunity to share their experiences in their line of duty.
Showbiz would like to congratulate the Founding President, Juliet Asante and her team for this laudable initiative. Their ability to put the festival together for two consecutive years is worth commending.
We call on corporate institutions and the government to support the fesitval in every way they can so as to put Ghana out there. We also call on the citizenry to embrace the festival and make it a national event.
