Ambolley and band in action
Singer, rapper and saxophonist, Gyedu Blay-Ambolley, will tomorrow, July 19, be in action with his Sekondi Band at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill, North Ridge in Accra.
Also expected to perform on the night is singer, Serwaa. She has been a back-up singer for Becca and other prominent singers for a while and she is breaking out on her own now.
“She is a brilliant singer. She has made useful contribution to other people’s music over the years and I love the idea of her standing up for herself,” Ambolley says about Serwaa.
Ambolley was in Brazil during the FIFA 2014 World Cup. He performed alongside Amadzeba and Becca at a show there which he said went down very well with music fans from different parts of the world.
Ambolley’s Sekondi Band comprises some of the best instrumentalists on the contemporary scene. They include Colonet Faat (tenor sax), Dominic Quachie (guitar), Kwesi Arko (electric bass), Segun (alto sax) and Shikome (percussion).
“They have been with me for a long time and we gel very much. It is going to be a real blast,” the famous Simigwa man said to The Mirror.
