Here comes Adupashh!
He may not be a household name on the music scene but singer and composer, Adupashh has been around for about a decade and is still pushing hard to impress all that he is an act worthy of bigger recognition.
His latest offerings are two love-based singles: Like A Medicine and Siesiemu Ama. Both were recorded at Vantino Beat at Teshie in Accra.
They are jumpy highlife pieces that express a man’s romantic love for a woman, though in different ways.
In Like A Medicine which features Cholly, the singer compares his love to a potent medicine that provokes happiness. The lovely guitar phrases sprinkled all over the track add some sparkle to the piece.
The other song, Siesiemu Ama features Bullet. It is somehow risqué in character but the singer missing his lover and telling her to expect his arrival is the central issue.
A native of Sekyere Efiduase in the Ashanti Region, Adupashh brought out his debut album, Hmm in 2007. The man says the collection did not make the desired impact because he did not have the resources to promote.
His second album, Chapter One, was a gospel collection. It came out in 2014 and caught a bit of attention but inefficient funds to make ample noise made it sink fast.
“I have learnt some more about the music business since then and I’m determined to make my two current singles fly,” Adupashh said.
According to him, the two tracks would be part of an album to be released sometime next year.
“I lean more towards highlife but I’m versatile and comfortable with other styles like R&B and hiphop.
So the upcoming album would be a reflection of my real musical outlook,” Adupashh said.
A view he holds strongly is that deejays and other programme presenters on the various radio stations should open up to up-and-coming artistes in order to offer listeners more variety of music.
In the meantime, Like A Medicine and Siesiemu Ama are getting airplay on radio and beginning to push Adupashh’s name in the appropriate music circles.
