Jazz in the Easter air
Danish saxophonist and composer, Katrine Suwalski and her band who are currently on tour in Ghana, will perform tonight, April 2 at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.
Backed by pianist Marie Schmidt, bassist Morten Lundsby and Ghanaian percussionist Ayi Solomon of Classic Vibes fame, the jazz quartet will serve music lovers with their brand of jazz heavily influenced by Ghanaian polyrhythms.

The band will also feature Ghanaian Afro- jazz singer and songwriter, Elivava, as well as Kyerema Pra with Twerammpon Traditionals.
In an interview, Suwalski said: “I’m happy to be in Ghana with my long-time friend and musical colleague, Ayi Solomon, with whom I’ve been playing for the last 20 years. I’m glad to re-unite with my old and new Ghanaian friends - of course also, to share my music with the Ghanaian audience.”
Katrine Suwalski and her band will take to the stage at the Piano Bar, near the Greda Estate Roundabout at Teshie-Nungua on April 3.
Other jazz programmes slated for the Piano Piano Bar during the Easter holidays include an evening with saxophonist Bernard Ayisa on Saturday, April 4. Ayisa will be backed by Victor Dey (piano), Daniel Black drums (drums) and Philip Acquah (electric bass).
Saxophonist Dela Jackson and his Sahel Breeze Quartet will be there to thrill jazz fans while the P4P featuring Nene ‘Blues’ Narh, Charity, Mariam and Charity take their turn on Sunday, April 5. Guitarist and singer, Andy Tay will close the Piano Bar Easter Jazz sessions on Monday, April 6.
