Yohan increases tempo in gospel music

It has been a long held dream by young gospel singer, Yohan Appiah to preach the gospel of God to the world and it is that which has influenced the composition of his new album, Wo’nkutoo.

The album has 11 songs among which are Which Kind God, Woye Onyame, Worshippers Cry, and Chineke.

Other songs on the album include Adeakye, Hwe Wa’dom, W’onkutoo and Worship Medley.

Most of the songs such as Which Kind God, Worshippers Cry and Hwiie Adom are fast tempo but Yohan goes slow with rhythms on songs like Worship Medley and the album track, W’onkutoo.

He sings the praises of God on W’onkutoo where he says, “The dead cannot sing God’s praises whereas the divine responsibility of the living is to worship and sing praises to God”.

Woye Onyame entreats the world to honour God for His creation which is beyond human understanding. The song talks about how God created man by breathing into him, an act which Yohan says reveals the supernatural being of God on the song.

Adeakye talks about how God’s grace and Mercies keeps us alive every morning irrespective of our sinful nature, hence the need to thank God for his abundant mercies and grace.

In these times of economic hardships where many people have lost hope of the future, it only takes the grace and favour of God to survive and that is what Hwie w’adom talks about.

Speaking to Showbiz last Monday, Yohan said that he was inspired to be a minister of the gospel after being diagnosed with an ailment which almost took his life.

“I had never appreciated God’s love for me until that incident. I later realised that human beings were nothing if we don’t have God in our lives. I want this generation to dedicate themselves more to God because the end is near” he stated.

Minister Yohan had a stint on the gospel scene in 2010 when he released his debut album, Hwie W’adom.

Over the years, he has shared the stage with renowned gospel artistes including Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, Kwaku Gyasi, Ceccy Twum, OJ, Noble Nketsiah, Oware Jnr and Vine Praise.

He is hopeful that the W’onkutoo album which was launched at Kingdom Family International Church at Lapaz Race Course, where he serves as the music director will shoot him in the limelight.
