The Afodat Dance Group is set to headline the United Kingdom’s 2025 Black History Month celebrations with a series of rescheduled performances that promise to bring African culture and heritage to life.
The group, renowned for its dynamic blend of African dance, drumming, and storytelling, will stage three major shows as part of the annual commemoration. Performances are now scheduled for 24 October and 1 November at the Broadwater Farm Community Centre in Tottenham, with a concluding show on November 6 at the Thames Ward Community Hall in Barking. Each event will run from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with tickets priced at £20.
The revised programme replaces earlier October dates that were previously announced, offering audiences multiple opportunities to take part in one of the highlights of the Black History Month calendar.
Founded to preserve and promote African traditions through the arts, the Afodat Dance Group has built a reputation for electrifying performances that combine cultural authenticity with modern creativity. Their productions draw on African rhythms and storytelling to deliver shows that are both educational and inspiring.
“Through dance and drumming, we celebrate resilience, identity, and the stories of our ancestors,” the group said in a statement. “Our performances are more than entertainment — they are lessons in history and expressions of pride.”
Black History Month, held each October in the UK, honours the achievements and contributions of Black communities while also providing a platform for reflection and dialogue. Organisers of the Afodat performances say the events aim to strengthen connections within communities and highlight the richness of African heritage.
“Our goal is to strengthen community ties and inspire pride in our cultural roots,” the group added.
With its mix of vibrant dancing, live drumming, and audience participation, the Afodat Dance Group is expected to deliver some of the most memorable performances of Black History Month 2025. The updated schedule ensures that supporters and new audiences alike can engage with a showcase that blends entertainment with cultural education.
