Archbishop Duncan Williams gets first Ghana Movie Awards nomination to hold on Dec. 24

In a surprise move, renowned Ghanaian cleric, Archbishop Duncan Williams, has received his first-ever Ghana Movie Awards nomination.

He was nominated in the Cameo Actor category.  The nomination comes ahead of the awards ceremony, scheduled to take place on December 24 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

Ghana Movie Awards is one of the prestigious events in the Ghanaian film industry, recognising and celebrating outstanding achievements in filmmaking.

The nominations list equally features a pool of talented actors, actresses, directors and producers who have made significant contributions to the Ghanaian film industry in the year under review.

There will be 21 awards presented in categories such as Achievement in Cinematography, Achievement in Directing, Achievement in Editing, Achievement in Costume and Wardrobe, Production Design and Achievement in Sound Mixing and Editing.

The others include Achievement in Writing Original or Adapted Screenplay, Best Short Movies, Best Documentary, Best Movie African Collaboration, Best Picture and Cameo Actor categories. (Related article: Here is the list of nominees for the 2024 Ghana Movie Awards)

The competitive categories such as Actor in a Leading Role have Kwadwo Nkansah, Lilwin, James Gardiner, Adjetey Anang, Anthony Woode and Jeffery Nortey as nominees.

Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah, Bless Fortune, Nana Ama McBrown, Emelia Brobbey and Habiba Sinare are nominees for Actress in a Leading Role category.

Actor in a Supporting Role nominees are John Dumelo, Kofi Adjorlolor, Van Vicker, Majid Michel and Clement Bonney (Mr Beautiful).

While nominees for Actress In  Supporting Role are Sonia Ibrahim, Roselyn Ngissah, Sandra Ababio, Christabel Ekeh, Tracy Boakye, Kalsoume Sinare, Maame Ofosuah Anim, Sika Dzuali and Chichi Neblett.

 Rosemond Brown (Akuapim Poloo), Frank Ntiamoah, Mawena Azumah, Martina Dwamena(Asantewaa), Sherita Adu, Quesh and Augustina Aboabo will compete in the Discovery of the Year category.

According to the CEO of Ghana Movie Awards, Phred Nuamah, this year's ceremony will be an unforgettable night of glamour, entertainment and celebration of excellence in Ghanaian cinema.

“We're pulling out all the stops to make this year's Ghana Movie Awards an extraordinary celebration of Ghanaian cinema. The dress code is strictly formal, that is tuxedos and Kente for men and evening gowns for ladies,” he said.

Ghana Movie Awards was established in 2010, with the first edition held on December 25 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
