Musician have always had the power to positively influence society with their messages in a song titled Ebola.
And with the Ebola disease wrecking havoc in West Africa especially, nine up and comng Ghanaian artistes have taken upon themselves the task of sensitising Ghanaians about the virus in a song titled Ebola.
The nine namely; Destro, Basat, Sigli, Coda, Stone B, Mufti, Gyateng, Femi, and Sasko are all signed under the management of Hyperlink Entertainment Ghana,
The artistes who came together as Hyperlink Allstars tackle the challenge of Ebola in Twi, Ga, Ewe, Dagbani, Gonja, Hausa and English.
This according to them is to appeal to the different cultures and languages we have in the country.
Destro kicks things off with a warning to everyone about the dangers of the Ebola virus; he begins in English but quickly switches to his native Dagbani.
Basat sings the chorus and provides helpful tips on Ebola prevention such as hand washing and personal hygiene.
In the song, the musicians say Ebola which is contracted through contact with body fluids of infected persons is a fatal disease that spreads fast. While it has no cure, they explain, the symptoms of the virus can be treated.
The song is simple, direct and it serves the purpose of getting the message of the Ebola outbreak across to members of the public.
Talking to Showbiz, the CEO of Hyperlink Entertainment, Arnold Mashud, disclosed that the project was an effort to ensure the public was well educated on the Ebola crisis.
“Although the virus has not been recorded in Ghana, we don’t have to pretend it doesn’t exist. There is a real risk to Ghana and it is prudent for us to be armed with information in order to ensure we are not taken by surprise,” he said.
“Musicians have a huge role to play in society so it shouldn’t always be about flashy cars and money. We have a responsibility to the people to be the voice for social change,” he added.
He told Showbiz Hyperlink Entertainment would be embarking on a nationwide Ebola sensitisation tour and called on corporate bodies and other non-governmental bodies to support them in order to have the necessary impact.
