Away with child abuse — IIkod says so

The use of child abuse as a theme is not what many musicians would love to tackle in their music but new artiste, Ilkod, believes that the issue is a canker that needs to be addressed by society.

It is that which influenced the composition of his debut album titled, Conscience Salver.

The titles of some of the songs on the album are Rumination, Say No to Hanky Panky, Boomerang, Doula, As a child, Forgive Genuinely & Completely.

Others are O Little Town of Bethlehem, Pacifist Soldiers and a Praise Medley.

Ilkod who describes his songs as inspirational, told Showbiz last Friday that his quest to champion the eradication of child abuse has been affected by his inability to secure resources to embark on a campaign, hence the need to compile his  messages into songs hoping that it will reach a large number of people.

Apart from the matter of child abuse that he tackles on the album, Ilkod, also in the song, As a Child, entreats children to respect their parents.

He praises the work of midwives on Doula which he says is his favourite song. According to him, the role of midwives in society cannot be underestimated. He says

“Children are a blessing from God and these midwives who help to bring them into the world safely must be commended and encouraged”.

Ilkod whose real name is David Kofi Dokli, singlehandedly produced his album from his “base” at Koforidua. He says he will be grateful to be signed onto a music production outfit.

“As human beings, it is important that we have clear conscience on anything we do and that is why I named my album, Conscience Salver. We should let good rule over evil”, he said.
