Daddy Lumba hosts birthday bash
Ace highlife artiste, Daddy Lumba, will host his many fans to a bash today at the National Theatre as part of his 51st birthday celebrations.
The multiple award winning artiste will be joined by Bisa Kdei, Joyce Blessing, SP Kofi Sarpong, Gasmilla, Morris Babyface and Great Ampong to celebrate and honour his works over the years.
The Aben Wo Ha artiste will also use the platform to launch his latest song, Hosanna on his upcoming album which features gospel artiste, Great Ampong.
Daddy Lumba commands a lot of authority on the highlife front and when he mounts the stage today, he is expected to perform songs from his repertoire such as Awoso, Obi Ato Meso Bo, Sika Asem, Ohia Asem, Playboy, Sesee Wo Se, Odo Foforo, Biribi Gyegye Wo, Back For Good, and Mesom Jesus.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Great Ampong assured patrons of a good show and expressed his delight at doing collaboration with Daddy Lumba.
“We have been in the studio for weeks and we know that the fans will enjoy Hosanna when played. This is an opportunity to honour a living legend and I’m happy to be part of it,” he stated.
Born Charles Kwadwo Fosu in Nsuta, Daddy Lumba is a native of Mampong in the Ashanti Region. His collaboration with Nana Acheampong, then as Lumba Brothers, on Yeeye Aka Akwantuo in the 1980s shot him to fame.
Since then, he has, as a solo artiste, got music lovers to appreciate his craft with many popular songs such as Poison, Ofie Banbofo, Tokrom, Asee Ho and Odo Bewu Dee.
