The last few weeks have been hectic for the brains behind the Foundation as well the staff of Scratch Studious who are directly organising the event.
The artistes, coming from abroad have all been in town since last Tuesday and together with those based here, seem poised to bring the roof down at the National Theatre.
The ladies in the show are Becca, Elivava, Stephanie Benson and Paulette Broohm from Ghana; Yinka Davies from Nigeria and acclaimed French flutist, Sabine Boyer.
They will be ably complemented by a posse of crack male artistes including saxophonist Steve Bedi, trumpeter Paul Bilson, guitarist Kunle Ayo, singer Ben Brako, flutist Dela Botri and the great Osibisa band.
“Morale is high for everybody connected with the show. They all want to do their best for a successful show because they identify with the cause of providing a better future for our children,” stated Kofi Amoakohene of Scratch Studios.
The Foundation has over the last three years raised funds through a major concert each year and given the money to a specific organisation working in the interest of children.
Proceeds from this year’s concert will go to benefit Orphan Aid Africa which works to put orphans in foster cater instead of institutions.
Though most people are looking forward to a wonderful night of music, fashion lovers in the audience will have their share of delights.
Paris-based designer, Mike Sylla, will show a collection expected to please everyone. The Senegalese-born designer launched his label in 1992 and many see it as a beautiful blend between Western and African ideas.
Sylla has won many accolades for his designs. In March last year, he participated in the Miami International Fashion Week where he was awarded the Designers Choice Award. That made him the first African to be honoured that way at the annual event.
“We are all looking forward a good night of wonderful African music and fashion,” Amoakohene said with confidence.
