Ghana's Chef Smith does not hold GWR cook-a-thon record - GWR clarifies

Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith popularly known as Chef Smith, does not hold the the Guinness World Record (GWR) title for the longest cooking marathon (individual), the GWR has confirmed. 

Chef Smith called a press conference in Accra on Tuesday and claimed he was currently the reigning Guinness World Record (GWR) holder for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, clocking an impressive 802 hours and 25 minutes.

But checks with GWR by Graphic Online's Justice Agbenorsi has indicated that the certificate Chef Smith showcased at the press conference is not from GWR. 

“The current and true current record holder is:
The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 119 hr 57 min 16 sec and was achieved by Alan Fisher (Ireland) in Matsue, Shimane, Japan, from 28 September to 3 October 2023,” GWR clarified.

Chef Smith held his press conference in Accra on Tuesday at the La Palm Beach Hotel to announce his claim.

He hoisted a banner at the entrance of the conference room where he made the announcement.

The banner read: Press Conference. Unveiling the New World Cook-a-thon Record Holder. Millenium Chef Smith from Ghana with an incredible 802 hours, 25 minutes to dethrone Irish King, Alan Fisher.”

Chef Smith began his cook-a-thon journey on February 1, aiming to surpass the current record.
