‘Guard your spirit’ – Prophet warns youth about hidden dangers in songs and films
Prophet Eric Boahen Uche, Founder and Leader of Reign House Chapel International, has cautioned that movies and music are not spiritually neutral and could either mould or destroy the lives of young people.
In an exclusive interview, the man of God—who has worked closely with several gospel musicians he often invites to his church, including Empress Gifty and Jak Alolome—said his concern for the industry stemmed from its powerful influence on the next generation.
According to him, movies and music are no longer just forms of entertainment but “preachers” that shape values and destinies.
“Movies and music are not just fun. They are powerful tools that can either disciple or defile. What the eyes behold and the ears consume goes straight into the spirit,” he explained.
The prophet warned that content with dark or explicit themes could act as spiritual traps for unsuspecting young people.
“There are songs and films that openly glorify violence, immorality or witchcraft. When young people consume them, they are not just entertained, they are spiritually influenced. You can invite curses into your life simply by what you repeatedly expose yourself to,” he stressed.
Drawing a comparison between gospel and secular music, Prophet Uche insisted that all forms of art carried spiritual energy.
“In the same way worship songs carry the presence of God and bring peace and healing, some secular songs are spiritually engineered to spread lust, rebellion or depression. The spirit behind the art is more powerful than the art itself,” he observed.
He urged young people to carefully evaluate what they watch and listen to, warning that their playlists and screens could end up preaching to them more than any sermon.
“Guard your spirit. Movies and music are never neutral—they are either shaping you towards God or dragging you away from Him,” he advised.
