I’m not expecting anything from NPP - Barima Sidney
Just when everyone thought controversial Hiplife musician Barima Sidney was ready to reap heavily from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for his Time Aso(Onaapo) remix song, the versatile artiste says he is not expecting anything from the party.
“Although Time Asoo (Onaapo) is currently being enjoyed by everyone especially the NPP supporters, I least expect anything from the camp of the NPP. I just loved the Onaapo song and felt like doing a remix of it,” he told Showbiz in an interview.

Asked if he is willing to accept any token from the NPP, the Our Money hitmaker said he is ever ready to accept whatever he is offered.
“First of all I didn’t do the song for NPP and no NPP member contracted me to do it. I just love the original version of it but if NPP loves the song so much and wants to give me something, why not, I would gladly accept it. However, it is just coincidental that the song came around the same time Nana Addo was declared president-elect,” Sidney said.
According to him, although he did not support any political party, he was willing to jump on any platform to perform the song whenever NPP reaches out to him.
“I would perform as a musician and a business man but not as a supporter of NPP because no one can say Sidney is a supporter of NPP,” he said.
Talking about how Time Aso (Onaapo) came about, Sidney who is known for songs such as Scent No, Who Said Twea, Ponko Ponko and Enkoyie said he was with sound engineer Doctor Ray last Friday when he decided to write something down.
He said that it took him an hour to write the lyrics of the song adding that although Ghanaians are enjoying the song, he feels he would have done a better job if he had taken his time to compose.

About his impression on the original song, Sidney said although he does not know the original composer he feels whoever it was did a wonderful job.
“For me to download the song and listen to it over and over again and go ahead to do a remix should tell anyone that it is a powerful song. I am actually looking for the composer to congratulate him on the wonderful work done. From all indication, I know it would be an up and coming artiste who did the song,” Sidney added.
According to Sidney ever since he started doing music, Time Aso (Onaapo) is the fastest growing song from his repertoire.
It has been less than a week since its release but as of the time of going to press yesterday, it had 78,227 views on YouTube.
