THE Alliance Francaise in Accra came alive last Saturday, May 27 when a host of GH musicians in Ghana and the diaspora treated patrons to good traditional and Highlife tunes at this year’s Amofest International.
Over the years, International Amofest, a concert headlined by Amsterdam-based Ghanaian trumpeter, Berima Amo has been a useful platform to highlight rich and authentic African sounds.

The night kicked off with performances from Adasamma Highlife Fusion and Chorkor Jazz Band led by Kunimyelor. They were amazing with their unique blend of traditional African drums and jazz.
France-based guitarist and singer, Kyekyeku also graced the stage with his beautiful guitar act to the delight of the audience.
Akwaboah Jnr.'s performance paid an emotional tribute to his late father, Kwadwo Akwaboah. After him came the main act, Berima Amo.
Berima Amo is a trumpet master who has become an ambassador for West Africa's rich musical traditions. After his jazz trumpet studies at Rotterdam Conservatory, he lived between Amsterdam and Accra as a musician and cultural entrepreneur.
International Amofest has provided the platform for him to share his rich musical traditions and last Saturday was just one of the moments to do what he loves to do the most.
He thrilled guests with a rendition of Osibisa's Welcome Home and later called Epixode from the crowd to sing Atia. It was a good collaboration.

Bahghi’s guitar session was quite enthralling, and the Brazilian saxophonist, Lucas Santana, carried everyone along with his exceptional skills and sounds of jazz, samba and bossa.
Berima Amo finally brought everyone on stage to end the show with a beautiful version of Bob Marley's Redemption Song mixed with Yaa Amponsah.
This year’s International Amofest is an initiative of Better Music Africa in conjunction with Amarte Fonds, The Netherlands and French Embassies.
According to Berima Amo, the next edition of International Amofest will be in March 2024 and called for sponsorship to make the show bigger and better.
