Joseph Matthew gives hope with Promise Land
UK-based-Ghanaian Gospel artiste, Joseph Matthew has always shown his love and appreciation for the Ghanaian culture.
And that has been his motivation for starting a music genre refered to as Afro-Gospel, and in keeping up with the style, he has released a new song, Promise Land, rendered in a Highlife vein.

Released on Friday, July 7, Promise Land, a song about faith and resilience narrates the challenges of Africa and how its people must not be discouraged but fight on to get to the proverbial promise land.
In the song, Matthew says just like Africa, the believer must uphold faith in the face of trials for better rewards when they finally get to the promise land.
According to Matthew who is known for songs such as Blessed and Nyame Ye, the newest material, Promise Land is a reminder of God’s faithfulness.
“This song is to inspire those who are struggling or going through tough times to know they are not alone and that God is with them.
“It is also to let people know that God is good and that He will never leave those who trust in Him, hence a message of hope and resilience for those facing challenging moments, he stated.
Promise Land is sure to be a hit with fans of Gospel music. The song is a powerful and uplifting anthem which promises to leave listeners feeling inspired and hopeful.

When he dropped Halleluyah, My Story and Nyame Ye in 2018, they did well in the UK but it was difficult for Matthew to get same appreciation back home in Ghana.
This is because his style of music which he labeled Afro-Gospel was perhaps ‘alien’ to the Ghanaian Gospel audience who thought it too worldly for the church.
But four years down the line, young Ghanaian Gospel acts such as Evans Scott, Kneeded, Lucky Ekeh, Kingzkid, Fresh Joy Music among others are driving the Afro-Gospel music style and making great strides.
As an advocate for versatility in the Gospel music space, Matthew adds that, “I’ve always believed versatility is key to the growth of the Gospel industry.The world is fast changing and with it being a global village, we cannot stick to our old ways. Different styles appeal to different people and the industry must be mindful of that”
