The Ghanaian music industry rarely sees very young musicians breaking through onto the mainstream music scene even though there are programmes designed to discover young talents nationwide.

We seem to lack a system that nurtures young talents but 17-year-old rapper, Kayce, is ready to be the first to break through.

This fresh out of high school rapper’s love for music started when he was inspired by the Skillions Records mixtape which had artistes like Lil Shaker, Joey B and E.L on it. He performed their songs in school and begun to write his own raps to songs till he developed his own skills.

After successfully recording his first song, he was able to land a collaboration with Lil Shaker on a song titled I Like Girls and after releasing songs such as Oh Yeah and Home Again, Kayce is out with his new single Too Much featuring Optimist.

The single, Too Much which was produced by Lexyz and recorded at Moni 3 studios is a fast tempo Afro pop song which talks about his friends, his lifestyle and good times.

With a catchy chorus and beat, the song is an ideal party song with rhymes delivered in English and Pidgin English.

The video for Too Much directed by Prince Dovlo is already out and has generated a lot of interest on television and on the Internet with quite a large number of reviews for a new act.

When asked about challenges he has faced so far, Kayce said, “There is a lack of support for young talented upcoming musicians so the popular artistes and radio DJs are not seeing my hard work”.

Taking inspiration from rappers like Joey B, Pappy Kojo and E.L, Kayce has dreams of working with them in the near future and promises this isn’t the last time we will hear of him.
