The event which aims at recognising and rewarding people from Zongo commuinities for contributing to national development was originally slated to start at 7:30 eventually commenced around 9:30pm much to the dismay of patrons and dignitaries who had thronged the venues to be part of the event.

Patrons of the GMAA had to wait for a programme being held at the National Theatre earlier was yet to end. This created a lot of frustrations and agitations for the organisers and patrons.

As the waiting continued, organisers of GMAA had no choice but to resort forcefully escort patrons of the other programme out of the auditorium which resulted in some heated exchanges

Eventually the auditorium was cleared for the GMAA to begin and inspite of the late start, patrons had a good time when the show started rolling.

Patrons were welcome to the event with cocktails of sobolo, lamirigee, zonkom among other drinks at the foyer of the Theatre.

In addition to winners receiving awards, Islamic fashion was at its best with the women sporting, kaftans, Abayas and outfits made from various lace fabrics. The men did not disappoint as they looked dapper in Shaddas, suits and Jalbabs.

That is not all, patrons were treated to music by Gariba, Cissey and Rude Bwoy Ranking.

The night brought together dignitries of the Muslim community such as the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Dr Nuhu Shaributu, New Patriotic Party(NPP) running Mate for 2016 Elections, Dr Mahmud Bawumia and his beautiful wife, Samira, the Imam of Japan Motors, Dagomba Chief, Abdul Kadir Tuahir, movie producers Abdul Salaam Mumuni and Hajia Meizongo among others
