Prior to the event, the Baba hitmaker had shared pictures of him in crutches on his social media pages, announcing that he had undergone a major surgery following a domestic accident.

Interestingly, some netizens claimed that the said domestic accident was just a means for Sonnie Badu to hype his concert.

Well, their speculations may have been justified when Sonnie Badu, hit the stage and in his usual elements gave an eclectic performance that will surely linger on the minds of patrons for a long time.

And this time round, Sonnie Badu, who had been moving around in crutches for a week after the said domestic performed without it. (Read Sonnie Badu involved in an accident, says the devil really tried)

Just after his performance, the Wonder God artiste took back the crutches and was helped to get off the stage.

This has further boosted the beliefs of some netizens who claim that the crutches episode was just a promotional strategy for Rhytms of Africa and are criticising the well revered gospel artiste to leave such attention seeking ploys for the likes of Shatta Wale to do.

For instance, in a review of Rhytms of Africa by veteran music producer/sound engineer, Fred Kyei Mensah popularly known as Fredyma, he applauded Sonnie Badu and his team for the well organised event.

However, just like many, he questioned Sonnie Badu’s quick healing when he wrote, “What happened to the crutches is another debate for, Jesus can heal a wounded spirit whole in a week. Boi!”
And for critics, his brand is too big and doesn’t need such pranks to get people to attend an event he is headlining.

Response

However, in  Facebook post, Zhikay Ike Junior, a member of the organising team defended Sonnie Badu that his accident is real and not fake.

He revealed thathe saw Sonnie at the backstage in pains after the concert since the effect of the injection to his foot to make it numb had started  waning off.
