Gospel artiste, Minister Ike, who is one of the Ghanaian artistes nominated at this year’s African Entertainment Awards scheduled for the Living Art Centre in Canada on Saturday, September 5, has called for support to help him emerge the winner in the Gospel Artiste of the Year category

“This should be another opportunity to sell Ghanaian gospel music to the world and I think it will be right for me to ask for assistance,” he said in an interview last week Friday.

The artiste who earned the nomination with his debut Onyame Gya album is facing a stiff competition from the likes of Icha Kavons (Congo), Focus Way, Nigeria’s Foluke and Meezy Musik from Congo.

Minister Ike who has received over 12 awards with Onyame Gya expressed his satisfaction for the reception given to him in the gospel fraternity despite being a new artiste on the scene.

In addition to Minister Ike, other Ghanaian artistes who earned nominations in various categories of the African Entertainment Awards scheme are musicians, Sarkodie and Bisa Kdei and TV personality/actress, Joseyln Dumas.

African Entertainment Awards established in 2012 is an annual event which seeks to honour and celebrate individuals who have positively impacted the African Canadian Entertainment industry with their works.

This year's awards ceremony which is themed, “Re-Branding Africa Through Entertainment” will be hosted by John Dumelo and Nigerian female artiste, Emma Nyra.

There will be winners in categories such as Best MC, Best DJ, Best Male Gospel Artiste, Best Female Gospel Artiste, Best Female Artiste, Best Male Artiste, Best Album, Best Single, Best Producer, Best Video Director, Best Promoter and Best Comedian.

The rest are Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Designer, Best Media, Best Record Label, Best New Artist, Best Band/Group, Traditional Artist of the Year, Athlete of the Year, Crossover Artiste, Beacon Of Africa, Award of Excellence and Community Champion.

In a press statement, the Founder and Executive Producer of the African Entertainment Awards, Ibrahim Adekale said, “We are excited to honour creative talents in the entertainment industry and also look forward to sharing these talents with the world”.

Since 2012, the African Entertainment Awards has served the platform to celebrate the works of African artistes in the Arts and Entertainment Industry.
